Welcome to Massapequa Family!

*Please note this blog is not related to any facebook groups.  This is a blog from a family who recently relocated to Massapequa and we hope you enjoy our findings, our stories, our local information and much more!

It is official!  We are Long Islanders!

In December of 2012, our home and permanent residence became one in the town of Oyster Bay, in the incorporated village of Massapequa Park.  Our children are enrolled in the Massapequa School District 23, my husband no longer has to commute over the bridge daily to get to work, and we are now a  “Massapequa Family”!

For those of you who do not know me, let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Jennifer.  I am Paul’s wife and Juliana, Louis, Anthony and Joseph’s mom.  I was born and raised in the Country Club / Pelham Bay section of the Bronx.  Up until now, I have always lived within a one mile radius of the home I lived in when I was born.  Although I am very excited and happier than anything about our upcoming move, I am a bit nervous about leaving the only “home” I have ever known.  What is the saying… “You can take the girl out of the Bronx but you can’t take the Bronx out of the girl”?  Although I am now a “Massapequa Mom”, that doesn’t mean I will ever forget my roots.

I am a mental health counselor, with my Master’s in Counseling.  Additionally, I have been blogging for almost ten years on a variety of forums and sites.  My main site is Mommy’s Links, which began as a resource site for pregnant and new moms back in 2002 and has evolved into everything motherhood related over the years.  It is now a blog network connecting Massapequa Family with two other amazing blogs in the NY Metro Area.  With the move, I realized it was time for a more localized version of “mommy’s links” (with me being Mommy, of course!), and MASSAPEQUA FAMILY was born!

We hope you enjoy our spin on local family themed events listings, local Oyster Bay resources for parents, and anything Massapequa and Family related.  If you are a parent in Massapequa and surrounding areas, be sure to bookmark Massapequa Family!
