American Heart Month, Wear Red Tomorrow, Other Ways to Help

February is American Heart Month.  If you have been following Massapequa Family, you know how near and dear a healthy heart is to our family.  Almost two years ago,  “Massapequa Dad”, my husband Paul, had a heart attack.  We learned from that experience how important a healthy lifestyle to keep your heart healthy is.

Heart health is important for men.  Heart health is important for women.  Heart health is important for all of us. Many people falsely believe heart disease and stroke is just a man’s disease. As a result too many women fail to visit their doctor to get screened. Not me.  On Tuesday, I have a visit to the cardiologist for a screening.  My heart is too important to me to not get screened.

Tomorrow, Friday, February 5th, the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® will hold its annual National Wear Red Day. This is a day when millions across the country will wear red to help build awareness about heart disease and stroke in women.

You can do more than help remind the women you love to get screened.  You can make a donation to the American Heart Association.  You can also call your doctor and make an appointment. Your heart is too important to you also.
