The Caillou Talking Doll – Our Review #CaillouDoll

My son Joseph does not like to admit it in front of his big brothers (although who are they kidding, I catch them watching it all the time!), but he LOVES Caillou. As a matter of fact, he gets out of pre-k every day at 11:30am. If I ever tell him that we have to stop at the grocery store after school, his first response for me is “Will we get home before Caillou comes on?”

When I was invited to review a new Caillou doll last month, I just knew I had to do it. Joseph was so surprised and thrilled when I gave it to him. It just so happened to be March 19, and our family celebrates the Feast of St. Joseph on that day, also celebrating Joseph’s ‘name day’, so I gave him the Caillou doll for his name day and he was so excited. Joseph ripped open the box and found a new best buddy.

Joseph sleeps with Caillou every night.  He loves all his phrases.  Not only does Caillou share things like “the four seasons are winter, spring, summer, fall” and “count to five with me – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5”, but he also shares some basic French phrases like Merci (thank you) and Bon Jour (hello).  Too cute!

Joseph’s older brothers (they are almost six, he is four and a half) have been seen playing with Caillou as well.  They don’t usually like to be seen playing with a doll, but Caillou is one character than everyone in our house loves!

Did you know that “Caillou” will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2015?  It has consistently ranked one of the top 10 tv series for preschoolers nationwide since its premiere in 2000.  Caillou has won multiple awards, including two Parent’s Choice Awards, in consecutive years.  If your little one is a Caillou fan, this is one toy you certainly have to get!

The Caillou Talking Doll was just released earlier this month, and has an MSRP of $34.99.  It is the first licensed product that will hit shelves as the Caillou brand leads into its 25th anniversary and celebrates 15 years on the air on PBS in 2015.
